A Run and a Rescue

This morning Jude and I got up early so he could run in a kids fun run for kids up to 9 years old organized by Children’s Hospitals and Clinics.  The race started at 8 a.m. and it is a drive up there so Jude and I left at 6:45 a.m.  We arrived in plenty of time and Jude grew bored waiting for his first foot race.  I was loaded up with cameras, my phone and a water bottle so I decided to lighten the load and lock the keys in the car and just take a single key.  But, I took the single key for our other vehicle that was parked at home in the garage.  So, before Jude started his race, I called our rescue crew (Andy, Levi and Asher) to come unlock our car.  Jude out of the gate had a good lead on everyone and he enjoyed being in first place for quite awhile.  But, in the end, 6 kids passed him and he got 7th place out of the 50-100 kids.  He was happy with that since had run his fastest and got a medal for his participation.  I felt so proud watching him run that I got choked up a bit.  About 20 minutes after the race ended, our rescue crew arrived and unlocked our car so we were able to head home and get ready for church.
