Update on Abby:
- She’s 1!
- She doesn’t talk much, but appears to say “dada” (for Andy), “da” (for doll), “ma” (for mom). Â One day we may call her “Gabby Abby.”
- She claps often, especially whenever she sees/hears others clapping.
- She crawls (not army style anymore).
- She pulls herself up to standing easily and walks while holding onto furniture.
- She loves her brothers and gladly lets them tote her around like a sack of potatoes.
- Jude gives her the giggles.
- Levi loves to hold her.
- Asher loves to play with her.
- She typically wakes up once a night at 3 a.m. to drink milk and go back to sleep.
- She’s still in our room, but she’ll have her own room when we think she’s old enough.
- She loves choking hazards and finds them and stuffs them in her mouth like a pro. Â Legos, Beyblade tips, 3/4 inch size jingle bells, and marbles are among her favorite things to find and stow. She’s essentially lucky to be alive.
- We call her Grabby Abby. Â Very occasionally we call her Crabby Abby.
- She hates getting into the car seat and promptly cries whenever we stick her in it.
- She’s getting my baby angel figurine and age 1 angel figurine for her birthday.
- She’s getting a 6-pack of socks for Christmas.
- She doesn’t appear to like reading. Â When I attempt to read to her, she slams the book shut, as if to stare at the cover. Â She recently destroyed the One Fish, Two Fish book.
- She’s weaning herself off the pureed baby foods and appears to enjoy table food or crumbs from the floor. Â Among her favorite floor finds have been a chunk of brownie and a blue M&M.
- She wasn’t going to get cake for her birthday, but instead the rest of us were going to enjoy her My Little Pony cake while she ate a corn muffin or popover, but the Cub Foods baker offered me a free smash cake with my order. Â I couldn’t say no to a free cake so I got her a vanilla smash cake.
- She still hangs out with me in the Baby Bjorn, but is getting heavy enough that those days are numbered.
