What We’ve Been Up To

Since being on Channel 9, we’ve been busy, and obviously haven’t posted much. We continue to work on our house. We have nearly completed the interior painting, and will leave the rest until our second guest bedroom becomes a child’s bedroom. I’ve been working on soffits in our living room when I can find the time in between weddings and other family events. It will be a great way to bring some light into the room. There are no light fixtures in there now.

In late March, I lost my job in St. Cloud. It has ended up being a huge blessing, though at the time it was painful. I am now working in Minnetonka, only 9 miles from home, close enough that I can go home for lunch! It also came with a huge raise, more than both raises and bonuses I got at my last job – put together! I’m also saving tons of money on gas, and got about an hour a day back, since I have a much shorter commute.

In the past month, we have been very busy on weekends. We went to Fargo to cheer on Jessica’s sister in the Fargo marathon. We’ve also been to two weddings, and celebrated Mother’s Day weekend with both of our moms.

What’s on the horizon for us? Well, we are finishing some of the remaining painting, primarily trimwork. We also plan to paint the outside of the house. We bought a new bed frame that also needs some paint (though it hurts me deeply because it is made of a nice Maple, and I think it needs to be stained.) Jessica also ordered the chair and a half that she has been wanting badly since buying the house, we expect it to be another month or more before it comes.

How about kids? Well, we are not expecting any yet. Jessica would point out that the key word is “yet”. The plan is that once the outside of the house is painted, we’ll start trying to have a baby. We want to wait until then so that there aren’t any issues with paint fumes, as Jessica isn’t getting out of helping, since it is her desire that this project gets done. 😀 If anyone reading this is free over the July 4th weekend (we have MOnday and Tuesday off), we’d love it if you came and helped paint. We’ll be using a sprayer (or two), so it shouldn’t be too difficult.

That’s all I can think of. Maybe Jessica can come up with more and elaborate.
