Today marks a first anniversary of sorts for us. It was November 24th, 2010 (a Wednesday) that marked something our family is especially thankful for. One year ago today we were all at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Jude was a patient in pediatric intensive care, and it was on this day in 2010 that he …

The Adventures of Jumping Jude
Jude is a fun, high-maintenance kid. He never runs out of things to say and loves to interrupt adult conversation. Often he’ll interrupt just to interrupt and when he is acknowledged he might say, “Nevermind” or “I forgot” or “I thought you’d never stop talking.”  We’re working on that. Jude loves playing in the front yard and riding …
The Adventures of Leaping Levi
Levi is really too mobile, smart and curious for his own good. He started walking at 9 months and attempts any trick that Jude tries. Levi is always getting himself into trouble. A couple weeks ago while I was at work, Andy had the front door propped open and the screen door shut but not …
Update on the Olsons
It has been forever since we wrote. Part of the reason for that is that Andy has several other blogs he maintains and would prefer to spend his time on and I’ve been working crazy hours (at least 6 days a week) all year. I don’t have time for sleeping, shaving my legs or certainly writing on …
Jude’s Bathroom Issues
This is mostly blackmail material for when he’s a teenager, in case he gets out of control. This is almost a daily occurrence. 2010 Olson Christmas “Letter”
This year, rather than the usual letter and/or Christmas card, we decided to put together a video. This is our 2010 Year-in-Review and Christmas “Letter” Merry Christmas!!
Podcasting About Jude
Jessica and I sat down this afternoon, using my experience with podcasting, to talk about our experience over the last couple weeks with Jude. The music that opens and closes the show was provided to me by my friend Laurence Anderson, from his album 7 Songs, 6 Strings, 5 Kids.
More News
This afternoon I got a call from the oncologist at Children’s hospital. The pathology report came back from the doctor at Johns Hopkins and confirmed the tumor type that Jude has. This is very good news! It means that Jude will require no further treatment at this time. He will still need to undergo some …
Back Home!
Today we awoke with the expectation that we’d be moved upstairs to another room. Jude was only in ICU because of this saline drip, and so they could watch his sodium levels, but that came out last night and he was doing well. It was a bit of waiting to see what was going on, …
Saturday Update
Today was another pretty good day. This morning, Jude’s neurosurgeon came in and said that he wanted Jude to have as normal of a day as possible, as if Jude were at home. He did a pretty good job of it. Jude has a scooter that he found in the family lounge that he has …
