Reintroduction of the Purse

So, I’ve been a mom for over 7 years now.  In that time, one thing that disappeared was my purse  It was replaced with a diaper bag and then with a backpack when I had multiple kids to lug around.  Tonight (when it was coincidentally Father’s Day), the boys and I were set to leave Andy in the garage and head to a children’s musical.  I loaded up the backpack with a diaper and wipes for Asher and my wallet and phone and was ready to jump in the car when I realized that I should see if my small stash would fit in a purse.  It did.  When I threw my purse in the car, the 2 little boys were puzzled, asking, “What’s that?”  Yes.  It was high time for the purse to make its reappearance.

Jude’s Quote of the Day

I asked Jude to make his bed (which he rarely does) and he said, in all seriousness, “Why do I have to make my bed when YOU sleep in it?”  Because I lay down with him to fall asleep at night, he’s convinced that I spend the entire night with him (which isn’t true at all).

Andy’s Quote of the Day

So Andy told me tonight that he was going shooting with friends tomorrow.  I realized in that moment that I have never once left my boys to go hang out with my friends.  So, I hid my grinning face behind a boy who was hanging out on my lap and said with all the seriousness I could muster, “In two nights, I’m hanging out with my friends.”  Andy said, “Who’s this?  You don’t have any friends.”  I started laughing up a storm since he had called my bluff.  Then he added, “It’s not that you can’t have friends; you choose not to.”  Certainly true that I would never choose to hang without my boys so play dates with other moms are the only option.

Jude’s Quote of the Day

We were looking at a shirt I really liked at Sam’s Club that was only available in large.  I told Jude that it would be too big for me.  He really liked it and said, “That’s okay.  You’ll grow into it someday.”  (Ha!  I hope he’s wrong about that!)

Asher’s Quote of the Day

Asher to me:  “Aunt Jessica, can you….”

Me to Asher: “I’m ‘Mommy’ to you, kid.”

Asher to me:  “No.  You’re my Aunt Jessica.”

(We have the boys’ cousins staying with us for the weekend.)
