Andy and Jude on the Radio

Andy and Jude will be on the radio this Saturday.  Siri Freeh, Miss Minnesota 2012, will have them on her radio show on AM 1130 from 1:00 to 1:30, along with the Director of HopeKids Minnesota. They’re going to share their experience with HopeKids, a wonderful organization for children with life threatening conditions.  I’ll be working behind the scenes in advance, trying to coach Jude not to be too shy or too silly.  I have a feeling I’ll fail miserably at my task, but I’m going to give it a shot.

Jude Justifies a Lie

I set up Jude on his music curriculum online and walked away.  When I returned, I asked him if he had done activity 3 of this silly echo clapping, which we’ve been working on for a few weeks.  He said that he had.  I didn’t believe him and questioned him further.  Finally, I asked him if he had done activity 3 TODAY and he finally admitted he hadn’t.  I called him front and center and told him that him intentionally deceiving me is a lie and that lying is a really bad sin.  He said that he didn’t think he had lied saying, “I was just being technical.”

3 for 3

The boys are mid-way through their spring swimming lessons.  Today they had level assessments and all 3 passed their classes.  It’s one of the first swimming classes that Jude has ever passed — typically he just ages into classes rather than passing them.   But, he’s much more comfortable in the water now and seems to be figuring out how to swim.  Levi and Asher have always loved the water.  Asher did so well that that he passed his class and they recommended he skip the next one and opt for a higher level.  So proud of them!

Recap on our First Stay Home Day

Today Jude and Levi went to a Minnesota Gophers football camp, organized by HopeKids.  The starting quarterback for the Gophers attempted to teach Jude how to throw a football in a non-underhand method.  Not sure that Jude really got it.  He doesn’t appear to be too coachable to me, which is not a good thing.  They both had a ton of fun.  Andy and Asher went to Andy’s parents’ house.  Later, Jude and Levi and I went to a super awesome park.  Andy dropped Asher off to join in the fun.  The boys didn’t want to leave, but after hours of me struggling to watch all 3 as they ran their separate ways, I convinced them to leave.  All 3 feel asleep on the car ride home.

Swinging and Biking

Jude (who is now 7) finally learned how to swing by himself.  I’m been working for years with him, trying so hard to teach him to pump so I wouldn’t have to keep pushing him on the swing.  I hadn’t even attempted to teach him this year, but he just jumped on the swing and did it out of the blue.  Very exciting, but nothing to brag about (since he is 7 after all).

Levi, on the other hand, who is just barely 4, can ride a bike without training wheels like a champ.  Tonight he was even cruising around on Jude’s much bigger bike.  We’ve been getting outside every night since the snow melted so he’s getting lots of practice.
