Tonight the boys and I were making brownies. Jude got me the egg I needed, but Asher didn’t think 1 was enough. He went to retrieve more and surprised me out when I found him in the fridge. Nothing that kid does should ever surprise me.
New Fitbit Record
I love the Fitbit that Andy got me for Christmas. Today I reached a new record — over 33,000 steps and 14 miles. And, the best part of this is that I logged most of those miles while working on my walking station (desk on a treadmill). Love that thing!
Levi’s Quote of the Day
Levi loves babies. He likes to go up to random stranger babies and stroke them and kiss them. Tonight Levi asked me, “Mommy, can we buy some other kids?”
Exchange of the Day
Jude and his newly 2 year old brother, Asher, were arguing over Angry Birds, as usual.
Jude: “I had it first.”
Asher: ” I had it first.”
Jude: “You are only 2. You don’t know the right words to win this argument, so just give it to me.”
Fired for First Time
Two days ago I got written notice by mail that I was fired, by our home cleaning crew, that is. I was shocked, but I think it will work out for the best. Here’s what the notice said (typos included):
“Dear Andy & Jessica;
This letter is to inform you of your last cleaning with _______ on August 29, 2013. __________ will be arriving for the final clean approximately 8:15. We will not be returning to your home to do any cleaning services after August 29, 2013.
It is in our best interest to move on and pursue other opportunities. I wish you the best in finding a cleaning service that will fulfill your needs.
Sincerely,
_________”
My mind has been busy working to develop the top theories for our termination. I’ve never really interacted with the crew since I’m always at work when they come and Andy and the boys are home. I’ve been a good source of referrals for them so business must be going good for them to cut us loose. Andy said that the owner had told him in the past that she fires clients who complain too much. My top theories for our termination are:
1. The crew didn’t like cleaning with Andy and the boys home messing it up as they went
2. They crew couldn’t be paid enough to clean up Andy’s disgusting toilet
3. The crew didn’t like working up a sweat while Andy stayed out of the way by surfing the web
4. We complained too much about something
Confession of a Coveter
Jude was on the phone with my mom tonight, giving her all sort of ideas of what Asher would like for his upcoming 2nd birthday. And, given that Asher likes what Jude likes, it was not a coincidence that what Jude said Asher would like the most was also stuff that Jude would be thrilled to have. Then Jude confessed, “I don’t care what it is. I just like getting stuff.”
Jude Earns Double Green Striped Belt
Jude’s pretty excited that he earned his double green striped belt in karate. He recently also started sparring, which he really enjoys. The highlight of his sparring matches so far has been the time he kicked a red belt down. On our way out of karate one day, he yelled to Ava, the red belt girl that he happened to kick down one day, “Hey Ava, remember when I knocked you down?” Super funny since I’m sure she’s knocked him down countless times. I’d love to watch Jude spar, but it’s only on Mondays while I’m at work. Thankfully, Andy’s dad takes Jude so he can go.
An Almost 2 Year Old
Asher has proclaimed he was 2 ever since he could talk, which has been for over a year. Given that he’s so advanced physically and verbally, his exaggeration has been almost believable. In less than a week, however, he will finally be right. Next Saturday, Asher will celebrate his 2nd birthday. Asher is such an adorable little boy. If he wasn’t such a bully to his brothers, he’d be practically perfect. He is such a joy and a blessing to us.
Levi’s Burning Questions of the Day
1. Do boys grow up to be girls when they are older?
2. Where are the apples in the pineapple?
The Boys’ First Track Meet
Well, the boys aren’t as fast as I thought they were. I registered them for a track meet in Minneapolis today. I learned Jude and Levi are both better at longer distance running and that Levi likes to run the whole race while looking behind him. I learned that Asher will quit a race if he is in last place. Jude ran against 7 year olds and Levi ran against 4 and 5 year olds. At least they had fun!
Jude stat’s
