Update on Abby

Abby is doing great, in spite of the unknown virus that caused a sudden spike in her temperature 2 days ago, which caused a febrile seizure and a trip to the ER. For me and Andy, it was a scary trip down memory lane. Holding Abby in my arms while she twitched and jerked uncontrollably, drooling and staring off into space brought me right back 6 years to the day the seemingly same thing happened to Jude and he was diagnosed with his first bout of brain cancer. But, unlike with Abby, with Jude the seizure wouldn’t end and there were the lights and sirens, a fully staffed trauma room waiting for him, scissors that sheared his shirt in half and a man, whose face I’ll never forget, standing above him with a bag breathing for him. I’m so thankful/relieved all is well with Abby. And, I’m happy to have learned that as defiant as Jude can be sometimes, in an emergency, he’s a great help (he placed the 911 call, prayed for his sister, got me my winter boots and jacket and packed me a bag for the hospital).
